Lanzarote: southern route with Timanfaya, La Geria and El Golfo

Discover some of the most spectacular landscapes in the south of Lanzarote in a single day, on an excursion that combines Timanfaya National Park, the Ruta de los Volcanes, La Geria and El Golfo. ✨ Experience description

The excursion starts with the pick-up in the main tourist areas of Lanzarote. From there, the coach heads for the south of the island to begin a route centred on some of its most representative volcanic landscapes.

The first major stop is Timanfaya National Park, also known as the Montañas del Fuego. As you enter this protected area the landscape changes completely: stretches of lava, volcanic cones and dark, reddish tones create a setting that recalls the force of the eruptions that transformed this part of Lanzarote.

During the visit you will follow the Ruta de los Volcanes and be able to watch various geothermal demonstrations. The route lets you see the island’s volcanic origins up close while you discover how the heat is still present beneath the ground.

There is also the chance to take an optional camel ride, at an extra cost, through the volcanic landscapes near Timanfaya.

After Timanfaya, the route continues to La Geria, one of the most distinctive areas of Lanzarote. Here the volcanic landscape takes centre stage again, but this time turned into a remarkable territory given over to growing vines. The plants grow protected in small hollows dug into the volcanic ash, creating a very particular picture.

During the visit to one of the local wineries you will have the chance to try a small sample of local wine.

Next there is a stop for lunch in the Yaiza area. Lunch is not included in the price of the excursion and is paid directly at the restaurant.

The route then continues to El Golfo, one of the most remarkable spots in the south of Lanzarote. There you can admire the famous Lago Verde, a lagoon beside the ocean surrounded by a volcanic landscape of striking contrasts.

The Lago Verde lies in a protected natural setting, so swimming is prohibited.

The published timings are approximate:

• Costa Teguise: approximately between 08:00 and 08:25. Return approximately between 15:30 and 16:00.
• Arrecife and Playa Honda: approximately at 08:30. Return approximately at 15:30.
• Puerto del Carmen: approximately between 08:45 and 09:15. Return approximately between 15:00 and 15:30.
• Puerto Calero: approximately at 09:20. Return approximately between 15:15 and 15:30.
• Playa Blanca: approximately between 08:20 and 09:30. Return approximately between 14:30 and 15:00.

The exact information about your pick-up is confirmed after the booking has been made. The timings may be affected by factors such as the size of the group, incidents along the route or other external circumstances.

It is important to be ready and punctual at the pick-up point indicated on your voucher. If you do not turn up on time, the coach may carry on with the route and no refund or change of booking will be offered.

During the pick-up and the return it may be necessary to change coaches in order to speed up the organisation of the service.
