Description
We first head west, where we explore the charming hidden village of Masca, situated in the heart of the Teno area. Here, we have time to take some photographs and enjoy a short break next to the local church, which stands next to a beautiful and sturdy ficus tree that is several centuries old. We continue our journey to our next destination, the Carrizales, where we have the opportunity to take a short walk. We also follow the winding road through the mountain and reach the northern side of the island, where the local agricultural activity is clearly visible. Next stop is the village of Garachico, which was completely rebuilt after being devastated by the lava flow of the black volcano in 1706. Here, we have time to explore the old castle of San Miguel, the church of Santa Ana and the park, where we can admire an old wine press. Afterwards, we head to the picturesque viewpoint of Chirche for a short break and to capture some pictures. We continue our tour until we reach a 500 year old lava flow from the “Boca Cangrejo” volcano, overlooking the neighbouring island of La Gomera. Afterwards, we drive a little further into the Teide National Park, reaching a place where we can take a short walk to the crater of the volcano Samara. We also pass the ancient peak of Teide, known as “el Pico Viejo“, with its extensive lava field that was formed just over 200 years ago. Then we reach the most impressive spot in the park, near the famous rocks of García, where we have time to take beautiful photographs. On the other side of the rocks, at the Parador del Teide, there is a cafeteria and a charming souvenir shop. On the way back south, we stop at a beautiful viewpoint offering views of several volcanoes and the extensive pine forest. In the village of Vilaflor, we find “El Pino Gordo“, the oldest and largest pine tree, for our last photo stop. Finally, we take a short drive through the Abono wine region before returning to your hotel.
